Prophecy Update: World War 3 and the Tribulation

“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”

World War Three Musings

Does it feel like to you that the China/Taiwan and Russia/Ukraine war threats are coordinated? Are China and Russia doing this to test to see if NATO and the USA can deal with a two front war?  

Many articles and books have been written about the possibility of World War 3 breaking out. When we read Revelation 6, the war described can certainly be termed a world war. Jesus told us that there would be wars! I am interested in this question; will WW3 occur before the Rapture and Tribulation? In my own research, I have read several books about WW3 occurring during the years the Soviet Union was actively pursuing expansion. Mostly between the years 1950 and 1990. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the motivation for WW3 shifted from communism to Jihadist Islam. That does not mean that Russia or communism is out of the picture though!

“When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.”

The first book I read on WW3 was, The Third World War 1985 by General Sir John W. Hackett.

“Early in 1977 a retired NATO general called together six of his collegues–including an admiral, an airman, an economist and a diplomat–to write a dramatized game-plan for the next world war.” thriftbooks.com 

I remember thinking then that the Soviet Union could not win a war in the West because slave states almost never win against Free states historically. That was a major theme of the book. It was a great read by some experts in the military. Many are now asking, can WW3 start over the tensions from Russia, China, and Iran?

In 2016 an interesting article appeared in Business Insider that explored ten planned invasions that could have sparked WW3. I will only look at two of them.

“These 10 world-changing invasions were planned but never happened. The Soviet Invasion of Western Europe: The Eastern Bloc countries maintained a defensive posture for much of the Cold War. The UK alone planned to drop at least 40 nuclear weapons on Eastern Europe. The American Single Integrated Operation Plan, first created in 1960, called for raining thousands of nuclear strikes on Communist countries, even if they weren’t at war with the U.S. For the West, the destruction would be so absolute, it didn’t matter what came after. For the Russians and their allies, the war didn’t stop at the nuclear exchange. Nukes only shaped the conventional battlefield.” businessinsider.com 

As you can see, Business Insider reported on the plans General Hackett wrote about. The very scary scenario thankfully never came about. If you want to understand what motivates Vladimir Putin to make so many nukes, to want to have a buffer between Russia and Europe, then look no farther than American and British military doctrine from the 1960’s. America was ready to use nukes to stop a Soviet invasion. Russia still desires to take out Europe and that makes many people nervous!

Business Insider also wrote about Israel in the same article: “The Soviet Invasion of Israel: In the days of the Cold War, the Israeli-Arab conflict extended far beyond the borders of the contemporary Middle East. The Soviet Union was the patron of the Arab countries in those days, a counterweight to the U.S. support for Israel. The Soviets were not happy about the rapid Israeli advance in the Six Day War of 1967 and warned the U.S. that if they didn’t do something about it, the Soviet Union would. The Russians prepared an amphibious invasion of Israel on the Mediterranean coast, with full air support. Strategic bombers and nuclear-armed naval forces were already en route to the Middle East when the Soviet Premiere delivered his threat to Washington.” businessinsider.com 

In fact, after the 1973 war, Israel found a lot of Soviet military hardware stored in Syria and Lebanon. Since 1956, Israel came into direct military action against Soviet troops four times 1956, 1967, 1970, and 1973. Israel invaded Lebanon just because the Soviet Union placed so much military hardware there for a future invasion of Israel. Here is a story about 1970…..

In 1970, at the height of another war between Israel and Egypt, Russia began to worry that Israel could wipe out the Russian military presence in Egypt and thereby hurt its ability to neutralize the American nuclear threat. The Russian solution was to block the Israeli air force from the Egyptian skies by installing surface-to-air missile batteries along the Suez Canal. the Russians relayed a threatening message to Israel, demanding that it halt its airstrikes in Egypt. “The Soviet government views this assault as a provocative act that could have very serious ramifications. On June 30, 1970, Israeli Phantom jets, considered the most advanced of their kind in the world, were downed for the first time by Egyptian anti-aircraft missiles. Three Israeli airmen were taken prisoner in Egypt and one was rescued by the Israeli army in an operation that could have come straight out of a Hollywood movie.”haaretz.com   

World War Three Fears

That brings me to the current conditions regarding the fear of WW3 between Russia and the USA. In 2016 Putin told the world that if Hilary Clinton won the presidency, America would go to war with Russia. It was his contention that Hilary Clinton wanted to start a war with Russia. Here is the article:

Is it any wonder that our current President is itching for war with Russia? He has taken the same stance towards Russia as Hilary Clinton. This is coming at a time when America is no longer supporting Israel in her war with Iran. Biden, as Obama did before him, supports Iran over Israel. My question remains, can WW3 happen before the rapture and Tribulation?

I believe that it can for one important reason. America is not in bible prophecy. Somehow, America has to be out of the way for the rise of the final Empire of Antichrist. An interesting passage of scripture regarding another world war is in Zechariah 12.

“Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah.”

Zechariah 12:2

The cause of war in the last days will be Israel and the city of Jerusalem. There is no doubt that some of the current push for war is centered on the relationship between Russia, Iran, and Jerusalem.  Since America stands in the way of Russia and Iran regarding many of their wishes and desires, America faces the animosity and threats of war constantly. One day that war might become a reality. This is our current situation.

As far as Ukraine is concerned, Putin planned to take Kiev many years ago. He has spoken openly that Kiev is a Russian city and that it should not be the capital of Ukraine. Historically it has been Russian for over 400 years..and they want it back!!!

WW3 China, Iran, and Israel!

There seems to be coordination between Iran, Russia, and China to stir up trouble for the world. If all three attack at the same time, a world war will ensue. China is clearly provoking Taiwan to war at the same time Israel and Iran are attacking each other. On top of that is Russia!

The potential flashpoint that could lead to such a situation would be the simultaneous decision by Beijing to use force to reunify Taiwan and Moscow to use force to conquer two provinces in eastern Ukraine. As America deals with this reality, Israel has attacked Iran and Iran just attacked an Israeli ship off the coast of UAE. It is not a proxy war, it is direct war. Here are the two articles:

“Israeli explosion sets back Natanz enrichment facility by 9 months – NYT. Former Mossad chief Danny Yatom expressed concerns about the leak about Israeli involvement to the Times, warning that it could impact Israel’s operational capability, in an interview with Army Radio on Monday.

“If indeed this thing is the result of an operation involving Israel, this leak is very serious,” said Yatom. “It is detrimental to the Israeli interest and the fight against Iranian attempts to acquire nuclear weapons. “Iran fires missile at Israeli-owned ship near UAE – report: An Israeli-owned ship called the Hyperion was attacked near the shores of the Fujairah emirate in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, according to reports in Lebanon. The attack came a day after Iran vowed to avenge the explosion at its Natanz nuclear facility, which it blamed on Israel.” jpost.com 

“Russia, China warn Biden at same time to stay out of Ukraine, Taiwan. On Tuesday, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned President Joe Biden’s administration against getting involved in Ukraine, amid Russian forces massing on the Ukrainian border. Also on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian warned the Biden administration against getting involved in Taiwan. Russia’s Ryabkov said “The United States is our adversary and does everything it can to undermine Russia’s position on the world stage. We do not see any other elements in their approach. Those are our conclusions.” americanmilitarynews.com
