Prophecy Update: May 28, 2016

I have been thinking a lot about the conditions for the end times as related to us in several passages of scripture. According to the prophets Ezekiel and Jeremiah the nation of Israel has been rejected by all of the nations of the world. Consider Ezekiel 36:15,

“And I will not let you hear the insults of the nations any more, nor will you bear disgrace from the peoples any longer.”

Ezekiel 34:28-29,

“And they will no longer be a prey to the nations….and they will not endure the insults of the nations anymore.”

God began a series of messages in Jeremiah 30-33 that set the tone for the end times. In Jer.30:11 He says,

“For I am with you declares the Lord, to save you. For I will destroy completely all the nations where I have scattered you, only I will not destroy you completely. But, I will chasten you justly and will by no means leave you unpunished.”

In these few passages the Lord is alerting us; the current priorities which the nations are pursuing regarding the nation of Israel are destructive. The British have politicians who openly threaten Israel with banishment and destruction. The Americans have been infiltrated with ideas regarding Israel which are insulting and promote violence against Jews. The United Nations has openly insulted Israel and promoted violence to the nation. Arab nations have openly written in their constitutions that it is their obligation to destroy Israel and all Jews. All of these nations fulfill the conditions which the Lord prophesied!

I have had several conversations with pastors the last few weeks and I proposed that we change the definition to evangelicalism. I anticipated that the answer would be either ‘no’ or curiosity on the possibility. What I proposed is that ‘Evangelicals’ would be defined not only by their stand on the ‘Gospel’ but also by their stand on ‘Israel.’ This question led to some great conversations.

The Lord has made Israel a wedge issue in the end times. The churches have an obligation to support the nation of Israel and very few do. It is tragic to me that whole denominations reject, despise, divest, sanction, and boycott Israel. Denominations which claim Jesus as their Lord and the God of Israel as their God wholeheartedly support the causes of those who openly call for the destruction of Israel. This is anti-Christian and does not belong to the true church of the Holy One of Israel, Jesus Christ Himself!

In Jer.31:10 the Lord calls to the nations of the world to pay attention to what He is doing.

“Hear the Word of the Lord, O nations and declare in the coastlands afar off, and say, He who scattered Israel will gather him and keep him as a shepherd keeps His flock.”

This passage teaches us that all of the nations of the world are obligated to support the work God is doing. Imagine the love of Christ that would be shown the Jewish people if all of the churches declared that they would help the Jewish people be settled in their land. A land that God promised with an eternal covenant! That these same churches would declare to the world that God is working providentially to bless the world through the nation of Israel! We have an obligation to declare it and support what God is doing. Unfortunately, God prophesied that the nations would try to stop it and that the churches would be in apostasy. Part of the apostasy we see in the church today regards the hateful attitude shown towards Jews and the nation. It is completely inconsistent with God’s Word to us in Romans 11:28-29,

“from the standpoint of the gospel they [Jews] are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”

Two wedge issues exist in the end times and both are important to our sanctification. The two things which God says will be rejected in the end times are Jesus and Israel. The book of Revelation was given to us to teach us that God is in control of the end and that the world would be judged over these two issues. As the nations actively pursue the agenda to destroy Israel, they are also on a path to destroy the church. As Christians are being killed in the Muslim world, the communist and fascist forces of many nations are trying to harass, intimidate, and kill Christians. In America, we are being forced to support the anti-Christian agenda. The movements to change the definition of man and woman, the family, and the evangelical support for Israel are increasing. We need to pray that God will give us loyal hearts and brave actions to stand firm until the end. As I meet with pastors to discuss this issue, pray that I can convince them to have soft hearts towards the Jews and support the Lords work in our day! The next peace push in the Middle East will fail as all of the others have. France is starting the next push for peace on May 31st, pray hard!

About Joe

We live in the last days and the Bible commands us to watch for the Lord’s coming. I have a keen interest in history, prophecy and current events. I read widely about political and military developments and write a weekly blog from the things I follow. My special interest is in Middle Eastern affairs.

Since I was in college, I have also studied how God judges nations. It all started in Buck Hatches’ class at Columbia Bible College in 1979.

I fell in love with God’s word and especially the prophets. The results of this interest led me to writing The ‘I’ Judgements: Four Sins that Bring about the Fall of Nations. It serves as a warning to the United States, showing biblically of what we need to repent.
