Prophecy Update: Prophecy Works Like That! 10/18/23
“Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth! Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!”
Psalm 80:1-2
This prayer in Psalm 80 is addressed to Jesus Himself. He is the Shepherd of Israel! The prophet Asaph, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit spoke under the influence of the sovereign God of Israel Himself! The Sovereignty of God can be expressed in three terms that give it it’s substance; Providence, Prophecy, and Predestination. Regarding the prophecies of the Bible, the sovereignty of God rules over the decisions and worldview of man. Psalm 80 is a prophetic Psalm describing the providential work of God in Israeli history. Here are three definitions to guide us:
Providence: “God’s faithful and effective care and guidance of everything which He has made toward the end which He has chosen.”
Predestination: To predetermine, decide beforehand, to foreordain, appoint beforehand.
Prophecy: “Reception and declaration of a word from the Lord through a direct prompting of the Holy Spirit and the human instrument thereof.” (Holman Bible Dictionary)
All three of the terms are biblically defined by the actions of God based on the promises of God. Providence usually deals with the direction of God’s promises regarding nations and creation itself. Please don’t think the war in Israel is a mistake. God is working His plan! Predestination usually deals with the direction of God’s promises regarding the nations and salvation of people through history. There are people getting saved in the process of this war. In Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon, people are seeing the hand of God at work. Prophecy usually deals with God’s promises regarding information needed to know God’s will for the present or future. In the case of Israel, God is operating in all three of His sovereign designed aspects of His work, providence, predestination, and prophecy. Psalm 80 includes all three of these works of God. In this light, Amir Tsarfati wrote this next piece:
“The Wishes Of Hamas, Hezbollah, And Iran Will Not Come To Pass—Israel Will Not Cease Being A Nation: As we watch the atrocities unfold in Israel and mourn the devastating loss of life, our minds ask the questions, “How long oh Lord? How much longer will evil bring pain and suffering into this world and impact the lives of your people?” Jeremiah 31:35-37 teaches us that if the sun came up this morning, then Israel is still a nation before God. The wishes of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran will not come to pass. The Jews will not be driven into the sea. Israel will not cease being a nation, says the Lord. Jerusalem is becoming a burdensome stone to the world, and eventually all the nations of the earth will turn against her. Yet the Holy One of Israel says that He will be Israel’s defense. The glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ precedes the 70th week of Daniel! The division of Psalm 80 is in three unequal parts with a repeated refrain: vs.3 “O God, restore us and cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.” Vs.7, “O God of hosts, restore us and cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.” Vs. 19, O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.” Notice that the difference in vs.7 and vs.19 are that God adds the phrase, God of Hosts and LORD God of Hosts which means that God is going to use His army to save Israel! The intensifying of the names of God is intentional by the Holy Spirit to alert us to His plan for Israel. This Psalm is an example of how God will save Israel from all her enemies and bring salvation. Iran is threatening Israel:
“The Iranian Revolutionary Guards threaten Israel: “We will erase you from the map”! “The shaking of the resistance front against the Zionist regimes (Israel) will continue until this ‘cancerous tumor’ is eliminated from the world map,” Ali Fadavi said, taking the baton of threats from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.” https://warnews247.gr/
As Iran, Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, Fatah, and Islamic Jihad push for war with Israel, the God of Israel promises to save His people. The hope that these enemies have for Israel will be dashed. The problem we have in America is that the Biden Administration is trying to push Israel to be weak in this war so that they can lose. Our secretary of State Blinken told Israel that they get nothing from the USA unless they agree not to target the missiles in Gaza if they shoot from schools or hospitals. This gives Hamas the upper hand over Israel. It is despicable.
“As Biden turns against Israel, Netanyahu must stand strong. If Netanyahu fails to stand up to the United States, if he buckles, the pressure from Washington won’t stop. On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan all announced that the United States expects Israel to permit “humanitarian aid” into Gaza. The implications of this position are devastating for Israel. According to reports, there are “hundreds of trucks” lined up on the border in Egypt to enter the Gaza Strip carrying so-called “humanitarian aid.” These trucks, if permitted to enter, will not be inspected in any significant way. There is no reason to believe they are carrying baby formula and foodstuffs that will be delivered to the needy. There is every reason to believe they are carrying war materiel and jihadist fighters who have arrived to augment Hamas. Hamas is Gaza. All the “ministries” in Gaza are Hamas. I have been worried from the beginning that Obiden was going to use this to curse Israel and lo and behold, it is coming out that that is the case. His goal is to shift the power of the Middle East to Iran and not Israel. Caroline Glick went on to say:
“So whatever and whoever is in the trucks carrying “humanitarian aid,” all of it will be delivered to Hamas and will be distributed to benefit Hamas. The idea that it could be otherwise is absurd. And the fact that the Biden administration is arguing this absurdity is an outrage. By barring civilians from escaping Gaza to its territory, even for the purpose of transiting to third countries, Egypt is collaborating with Hamas’s war effort. By enabling Egypt to maintain its position, and demanding that Israel allow Hamas to resupply while calling that resupply “humanitarian aid,” the Biden administration is trapping the civilians of Gaza it claims to care about protecting. They will remain under Hamas’s jackboot. They will remain its human shields and cannon fodder.”
“Iran threatens Israel and the US: “If the Israeli apartheid’s war crimes & genocide are not halted immediately, the situation could spiral out of control & ricochet far-reaching consequences—the responsibility of which lies with the UN, the Security Council & the states steering the Council toward a dead end. Iran also threatened the United States. Iranian state media quoted Amir-Abdollahian as saying,” We have conveyed our message to the Zionist regime through its allies that if they do not cease their atrocities in Gaza, Iran cannot simply remain an observer. When the prayer in Psalm 80:1 asks the Shepherd of Israel to shine forth, this word ‘shine forth’ is used twice more in the Psalms.
“Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth.” Psalm 50:2
“O LORD, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth!” Psalm 94:1
Both of these passages in the Psalms are based on Deuteronomy 33:2, “He said, The LORD came from Sinai, and dawned on them from Seir; He shone forth from Mount Paran, And He came from the midst of ten thousand holy ones; At His right hand there was flashing lightning for them.” What a wonderful event in history for the world and Israel. This is the revelation of the glory of the LORD on Sinai! What a bursting forth of light on the moral darkness of this earth! This reveals to man his sin and utter helplessness and the perfect holiness of the God who is a consuming fire. Israel does not know the real cause of their suffering and sorrow. It is because of Romans 10:2-3 “For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.” God caused Israel to be dispersed for 70 years after the Babylonian Captivity and only a few came back in 535 BC. The dispersion of 70AD however has been for 2000 years and now Israel is back in the land. Having their state back gives them the chance to defend themselves as they say, “Never Again.”
“IDF chief warns Israel will ‘annihilate’ Hezbollah as attacks continue. IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned that “if Hezbollah makes a mistake and attacks, [they will be] annihilated,” as Hezbollah continued to conduct anti-tank missile attacks toward Israeli territory on Tuesday. The IDF said earlier in the day that anti-tank missile attacks targeted Metula, Zar’it, Yiftah, and near Margaliot in northern Israel. After the legislative elections of 2006, Hamas became the ruling party and has been ever since, with no new election in 17 years. But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, For You favored them.” Psalm 44: 3
God makes sure in the scriptures that He will save Israel and not man. The Israeli Defense Force cannot save Israel from the 350 million Muslims that surround Israel with 7 million Jews. Only God will save Israel, set Jews on their land, and make them a great nation once again. The rest of Psalm 80:8-19 is a testament on how God will save His people and give them their land back. All of the prophets talk about it, all of them teach that they get the land through war, and all of them say God will succeed in the work He has for His covenant people! I am especially praying verse 14 which says: “O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine.”
God will take care of Israel and He will give them the victory just like He did in 1948, 56, 67, and 73! God will also take care of us in America because He loves the Church!
