Prophecy Update: Replacement Theology and the End Times 2/28/20

I want to focus this update on Replacement Theology. Much of the conflict in the world can be traced back to this false teaching. Replacement Theology teaches that the Abrahamic Covenant has been rejected by Jesus and the promises to the Jews are null and void, especially the land promises. The Church in effect replaces Israel in the plan of God and Israel is cut off forever. Islam teaches that the land is for Muslims and the promise of God goes to Muslims and not Jews. The churches who hold to this theology teach that Israel does not have a part in the future plans of God for the world. Here is a problem for these churches, ‘Galatians states that Jesus died in order to bring to our lives the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant and if we belong to Jesus, we are Abraham’s children according to the promise (Galatians 3:13-14, 29).’ Some say that only the land promises of the Abrahamic Covenant are cut off. The problem with that is that the Bible nowhere states that the promises of God in Abraham concerning Israel’s everlasting possession of the Land of Canaan are removed. Here are some recent articles that bear this out: the first is about the Vatican opening the archives to Pope Pius XII who is called Hitler’s Pope.

FROM THE JERUSALEM POST: “For his critics, Pope Pius XII is a figure who repeatedly failed to take a strong stance against Hitler or in favor of the Jews. For his defenders, he was a spiritual leader who did his best to work silently to protect the Roman Catholic and to allow its representatives to operate in secret to help those in need. “I believe that the opening of the archive is a symbolic gesture, I doubt that it will bring significant changes to what is known,” Prof. Manuela Consonni, chair of Holocaust Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry, told The Jerusalem Post. “I’m not saying that nothing interesting will come out of it,” she said. “I think we will find documents that will support better what we know about him.” I am following closely the statement by the Vatican that they are opening the archives for Pope Pius XII, who is Eugenio Pacelli. Pacelli was the Nuncio to Bavaria and Berlin from 1917 to 1929. He is called Hitler’s Pope because of his actions regarding the Holocaust. When they opened the archives to Pope Pius XI who reigned from 1922-1939 it was very revealing. I will share some of that Sunday night.

The Catholic Church and Replacement Theology:
During the fourth century, the Catholic Church began changing the beliefs of Christians to hate the Jews. They changed the date of Easter so that it would be different then Passover; here is a quote from the Council of Nicea, “For it is unbecoming beyond measure that on this holiest of festivals we should follow the customs of the Jews. Henceforth let us have nothing in common with this odious people…” By the Middle Ages, two erroneous concepts had become established Church doctrine: first, the Jews should be considered “Christ killers” and should be mistreated accordingly and the Church has replaced Israel, and God has no future purpose for the Jews. In fact, Pope Urban II in 1095 began the Crusades with the purpose to kill Muslims and Jews. “The abbot of Cluny asked why Christians should travel to “the ends of the world to fight the Saracens, when we permit among us other infidels (Jews) a thousand times more guilty toward Christ than the Mohammedans?” Religious passion, greed, and the vulnerability of Jews led to the rise of violent mobs who murdered thousands of Jews to the cry of “Conversion or death!” This behavior continued for eight additional crusades until the 9th in 1272. One of the most popular anti-Jewish myths that gained widespread acceptance was the notion that Jews murdered Christians each year around the time of Passover in order to get blood needed to perform satanic rites.
2010: Cyril Salim Bustros, the Lebanon-born Greek archbishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Boston, Massachusetts was responsible for delivering the final statement at a conference that was highly anti-Semitic. In clarifying remarks, he stated that “the Holy Scriptures cannot be used to justify the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands.” He then escalated the situation by declaring that the original promises made by God to the children of Israel “were nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people.”

Replacement Theology and Protestants:
I am amazed that among Evangelicals there exists a hatred of Jews and antisemitism reflected in Replacement Theology. For instance, a good example of the “new anti-Semitism can be found in a document issued by Dr. James Kennedy’s Knox Theological Seminary in 2002. It took the form of an open letter to Evangelicals concerning the land of Israel. It has since been endorsed by hundreds of theologians and pastors, including such luminaries as R. C. Sproul. The document begins by denouncing those who teach that the Bible’s promises concerning the land of Israel are being fulfilled today “in a special region or ‘Holy Land,’ perpetually set apart by God for one ethnic group alone.” Since the church is so divided over this biblical teaching, is it any wonder that Satan is having a field day dividing the church and nations over Israel. I remember when this story came out in 2002, I was adamant then with pastors I know not to sign this evil document. If you curse Israel you will be cursed, it still applies! I have many more examples from Protestant churches but I will go on to the antisemitism in the world:

Belgian city of Aalst says anti-Semitic parade ‘just fun’: 24 February 2020. “Israel, Jewish groups and Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès were among many who strongly condemned the costumes in Sunday’s parade in Aalst. Some critics said likening Jews to ants was similar to Nazi anti-Semitism, which persecuted Jews as “vermin.” Other floats mocked UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Brexit, climate activist Greta Thunberg, and Jesus Christ on the cross.” Europe is steeped in antisemitism and Replacement Theology. Melanie Phillips, a Jewish commentator has written about replacement theology and has admonished the churches to drop this evil theology. She wrote this in 2014, ‘Jesus Was a Palestinian’: “Protestants increasingly believe a potted and anti-Semitic Palestinian narrative of Middle Eastern history. Within the Protestant world, many churches are deeply hostile to the State of Israel. They present the Palestinians as victims of Israeli oppression while ignoring the murderous victimization of Israeli citizens at their hands. This much is generally known. What is less known is the even more disturbing fact that this perverse animus is increasingly fed not by the politics of the present moment but by theology.” I have written much on this subject in the past, suffice it to say that part of the antichrist system will be to convince people that Israel has no part in the plan of God!
The Democratic Party has also taken a turn towards awful antisemitism.

As the end of his eight years in office approached, he muttered at the April 30, 2016, annual DC Correspondents’ Dinner, “All of you are looking great…the end of the Republic has never looked better!” While his supporters claimed otherwise, the integrity of the nation’s sovereignty was steadily grinding downward. He was sure that Hillary Clinton was headed for the oval office to replace him and thus complete the destruction of the nation, that one strongest opponent of that New World Order.” President Obama was the most anti-Semitic President we have ever had. His legacy is seen in the new anti-Semitic crop of Democrats:

As Attacks Continue, Will Democrats Confront Their Anti-Semitism Problem? Feb.26. “During the 2008 primary, then-Senator Barack Obama was confronted by the fact that he spent 20 years attending Rev. Wright’s church where — according to both recorded sermons and published material — the pastor spread extreme racist and anti-Semitic teachings. Wright said “Zionist Jews” were worse than Nazis, published an article in his church bulletin claiming Israel and South Africa had built an “ethnic bomb” that only killed black and Arab people, and that he couldn’t speak to Obama once he was in the White House because “them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me.”

And yet Barack Obama went on to win his party’s nomination. And before Rev. Wright there was Rev. Al Sharpton, a one-time Democratic presidential candidate whose support has been sought by many Democratic presidential candidates — including Sanders — despite his history of anti-Semitic statements and links to violence targeting Jews. It is horrifying to me that the Democratic Party cannot and will not confront antisemitism head on. They will throw some fake news at you that they are for Israel, all the while cursing Israel.

FEBRUARY 24, 2020, UN Security Council calls for ‘two-state solution’ to be respected. “The UN Security Council made a rare show of unity Monday when it called on all parties to maintain their support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian Arab conflict. “Council Members reiterated their support for a negotiated two state solution … where two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, live side by side in peace within secure and recognized borders,” said a statement quoted by AFP and released by Belgium, which holds the rotating presidency, and supported by all 14 other members, including the United States.” There is a battle in the world that is being played out in the presidential race. The battle is over the land of Israel and the UN and Democrats represent the side that wants to curse Israel and stop God from giving all of the land back to Israel! That battle is over Jerusalem and Judea Samaria. Bernie Sanders already announced that he will move the embassy back to Tel Aviv, and now other presidential contenders are promising the same. They are also against Israel declaring sovereignty over land in Samaria/Judea. The battle is on!!

“Many liberal Christians mouth penitential pieties about the Jews murdered in the Holocaust while “taking as normal” murderous libels against living Jews in the State of Israel. Christians are arguably the most committed supporters of Israel in the world. At the same time, different kinds of Christians are among the Jews’ worst enemies. In America, the ones who defend Israel so passionately are (mostly) the “red state” evangelicals. It is these people in their millions, not the so-called and vastly over-hyped Jewish lobby, who make America so pro-Israel. In Britain, the Church of England and other liberal denominations are institutionally hostile to Israel. Such churches, along with immensely influential Christian NGOs such as Christian Aid, Christ at the Checkpoint or KAIROS, disseminate boiler-plate distortions and falsehoods that demonize Israel and sanitize Palestinian-Arab aggression. While many Christians who subscribe to such views are just going with the flow of the prevalent (and unchallenged) narrative about the Middle East, that narrative’s roots lie in a toxic combination of Marxism, Palestinianism and theological Christian antisemitism. The deepest root of the church’s hostility towards Israel lies in the resurrection of the previously discredited doctrine of “replacement theology,” also known as “supersessionism.” This doctrine, which holds that because the Jews denied the divinity of Jesus they were stripped of God’s favor so that Christians became the “new Israel” while the Jews were damned, was the source of centuries of murderous Jew-hatred until the Holocaust drove it underground.”

It is very clear to me that as the USA under Trump moves to give more land back to Israel in the annexation of parts of Judea and Samaria, the world is moving closer and closer to condemning and fighting Israel over this land. It is clear in this paper and the news reports the last few weeks that the Democrats and UN are in full blown war with Trump over his stance on Israel. This war is a reflection of replacement theology. The hatred of Benjamin Netanyahu, who is moving the nation into position to annex much of Judea and Samaria, will lead to a fight. They are throwing everything they have at Netanyahu and Trump to keep Israel from getting her land. It will not succeed though because what God has promised this will happen! He is faithful and will keep His promises to His people whether it is the Church or Israel! Prophecy is being fulfilled today, keep your eyes open and keep them looking up.
